Glinting off the rain

Bittersweetness, feelings I can’t fake

In sight I feel their pain

The people’s as they start to wake

The dark, the silence,

Stabbed by brilliant rays of light

But we can’t see its brilliance

Victims, trapped in our own fight

Trapped in the twilight of dawn

Seeing the world through fresh eyes

Eyes of the child, of a fawn

We see the world stifle, in relief, a sigh

I don’t pretend to miss that life

In truth I think it’s better for now

But it calls to me, that midnight strife

In part so I can take it for ever, that final bow
